Saving Money Tip 1 - Books

Money Saved is Money Earned

The entire day i had Mood-Swings. I was pretty pissed about myself. I tired reading books,But failed miserably. I was able to read only 50 pages. I slept for a while, yet i was not in my usual self.
My mom, who was seeing me upset, pestered me to go out with her as it would make me feel better.
Since i had nothing much to in house, i accompanied her. We first went to Odyssey.

I headed for the book section, while my mom was window shopping in the cosmetics section. I skimmed through the Book shelves hoping that i could find any books by Indian Authors. I was able to find only Chetan Bhagat and very few books of Durjoy Dutta. I went to the Recently Arrived Section. I found a couple of books which seemed as if they arrived right from the Printing press.
Simply i got hold of a random book and saw the price. It was 499 /- rs . I was shell shocked. That was way too much for a book. I found that almost all books in the shop were priced in that range. I got so pissed and dragged my mom out of the shop. I told about that all books are too costly nu. My mom was like, Yeah, here and all everything is expensive. But then, My mom also told me about the Other Alternatives like.

Sale of Used Books on Platform -

I know quite a few places in chennai where they sell second hand books. It's really a great idea because , why buy a book for 500+ rupees when you can get the same book for less than 100 rupees. It seemed a nice idea to me. I dont know whether you people would agree with me but coming from a Middle class family, i really cant afford to spend more than 400rs on a single book which i would eventually finish off within a couple of days. It would save 300 rs or more than that. In this way, I could buy a couple of books for a less cost.

Library -

As i have mentioned in my earlier post, I'm a member of A Library near my house. Though the library isn't that big, It has a pretty good collection of books. Sidney Sheldon, Nora Roberts et ectra.
The lending costs are very very less, just around 25. It is the cheapest way by which you can get hold of a book and read. But the only disappointing thing is that You cant own it and you have to finish reading that particular book within the dead line. So you can't read it at your own pace. Nevertheless, For people who doesn't want to preserve the books they read, this idea is the ideal one.

Ebooks -

Although downloading of certain ebooks isn't legal, You still can download your favorite books for free if you have the patience to surf the Net for the correct working Link. Lot's of download links are either broken or they ask you to fill up a survey to download the book, which is pretty irritating.
For People, Who don't want to spend a single penny from their pocket (Miser -_-) This is the perfect one for them. However reading books via Phone/Laptop is very hard and gives a big headache. I hate to read e-books.

These are some of the ways by which you can read books and yet save your hard earned money. Also, Do ask your friends if they have any books which you like. Who knows, they might have the books which you always wanted to read ;)

Last but no the least, I thank the Almighty for blessing me with everything .

Peace,
Sid
